Novum PCT

PCTFE Sealing Solutions

About Novum PCT

Novum PCT is a series of high-performance thermoplastics (PCTFEs) from ISMAT with high tensile strength and good chemical resistance. Its high-performance seals have superior mechanical properties making it ideal for cryogenic conditions.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN PCTFE AND PTFE?

PCTFE (a homopolymer of chlorotrifluoroethylene) contains both chlorine and fluorine atoms in its carbon chain, while PTFE (a homopolymer of tetrafluoroethylene), also high-performance seal, contains only fluorine atoms.

Replacing fluorine with chlorine strengthens and stiffens PCTFE while lowering viscosity and improving creep resistance and tensile strength.

This material has high chemical resistance and good electrical properties, making it suitable for producing top-tier engineering plastics, O-rings and seals, and other high-performance seals.

Additionally, it has a higher melting point and has slightly better chemical resistance. Unlike PTFE, PCTFE can be injection molded and extruded.
