The Vertex AC series of acrylate copolymer (ACM) compounds is designed to deliver reliable oil resistance and weathering performance for automotive and general industrial sealing applications. Compounded with carbon black for added durability, these elastomers are built to perform consistently in environments with regular exposure to engine and transmission fluids.
Vertex AC seals are engineered to hold up under sustained heat and oil exposure, offering a cost-effective alternative to fluoroelastomers in applications where extreme chemical resistance isn’t required but reliable oil resistance and weatherability are essential.
ACM, or polyacrylate rubber, is an elastomer known for its strong resistance to mineral oils, engine oils and transmission fluids, along with good resistance to heat aging and weathering. It typically operates across a temperature range of -40°C to +150°C, making it well suited for continuous exposure to hot oils without hardening or cracking over time.
Unlike FKM or HNBR, ACM is generally not recommended for applications involving water, steam or strong acids, as it has limited resistance to these media. However, its balance of oil resistance, weather resistance and cost-effectiveness makes it a popular choice in the automotive industry, particularly for rubber-to-metal bonded parts, seals and gaskets exposed to engine and transmission environments.
