Novum MOF is a series of molybdenum disulphide (MoS₂) and glass‑fiber‑filled PTFE compounds from ISMAT that offer enhanced wear resistance, higher stiffness and better dimensional stability under load, while largely preserving the outstanding chemical and electrical properties of virgin PTFE. ISMAT is a global manufacturer of high‑performance sealing solutions engineered for demanding industrial environments such as oil & gas, chemical processing, aerospace and power generation.
MoS₂ (molybdenum disulphide) filled PTFE is a modified Polytetrafluoroethylene composite in which small quantities of MoS₂ (typically 5–15%) are incorporated to improve hardness, stiffness and wear resistance. The addition of molybdenum disulphide has minimal effect on the chemical and electrical insulation characteristics of PTFE, making it ideal for high‑wear, high‑pressure seal applications where consistent friction and low‑maintenance performance are critical.
Novum MOF grades are further reinforced with glass fibers (15% or 25%, depending on grade) to reduce deformation under load and improve mechanical strength. Novum MOF is available in high‑performance, non‑free‑flow molding‑grade formats, suitable for compression‑molded joint seals, backup rings, valve seats and other critical sealing components.
