Novum GF

Glass-Filled PTFE Seals

About Novum GF

Novum GF is a series of glass-filled PTFEs from ISMAT that have improved mechanical and wear properties, but lower tensile strength, compared to virgin PTFEs (Novum P). They are typically used Aerospace, Oil & Gas, Chemical and Energy sectors.

WHAT IS A GLASS FILLED PTFE?

A type of Reinforced Polytetrafluoroethylene (R-PTFE), glass-filled PTFEs are generally strengthened with glass fibers (between 5% – 40%, depending on requirements), creating a material that has improved mechanical strength, wear resistance and low deformation under load. Glass, however, slightly increases the coefficient of friction and also has poor resistance against alkalis and hydrofluoric acid.
