SBR Seals

About Cerulean SB

The Cerulean SB series of SBRs (Styrene-Butadiene Rubber) are extremely versatile and can be molded into seals for a variety of applications that require resilience to heat and certain chemicals.

What is SBR?

Styrene Butadiene Rubber (SBR) is a collection of synthetic elastomers that are derived from combining two monomers: styrene and butadiene. It is an extremely versatile material and was first created during World War 2 as a replacement for natural rubber. SBR has a number of strengths – excellent water, abrasion and compression set resistance, crack endurance and aging. It has some weaknesses as well such as the need for reinforcement and sub-par low temperature resistance when compared to natural rubber.
