PTFE Coated O-rings are specialized sealing solutions designed to provide low friction and high chemical resistance.
It consists of an elastomeric core / centre, typically silicone or FKM, which is then coated or encapsulated with a thin layer of PTFE. These coated and encapsulated O-rings are customized to provide optimum functionality such as friction resistance and improved lubrication.

Flaking: The tendency for PTFE coatings to flake off with wear can lead to contamination in sensitive systems, especially in clean environments.
Porous Coating:While PTFE provides some chemical resistance, it doesn’t enhance the O-ring’s inherent chemical resistance. The base O-ring material must still be chosen carefully for compatibility with the chemicals and temperatures it will encounter.
